How to enlist
You will need to contact either your Battalion S-2 or Battalion commander if you are interested in joining this effort.  If you are having trouble contacting you Bn. S-2, then contact the Regimental S-2 and he will help assign you.  You can do this by emailing  Jack Reimer, email address is reimerfam@msn.com acting Regimental Commander.  Please include the following information in your email.

1.  Name
2.  Address
3.  Telephone Number(s)
4.  Email address
5.  Position desired
6.  What type of vehicle  (if it pertains to your position)
7.  Health concerns? (because of the rigorous nature of reconnaissance we want to be well abreast of any health concerns you may have, this will not be used a criteria for joining the recon squadron)

If you are accepted into the reconnaissance section the intelligence staff will send you the appropriate mission specifics via email and snail mail.  Please remember that there are a limited number of recon slots available and this is a “first come-first serve” operation and the first qualified individuals will get the slots.

Gentlemen,

As you may have known, the reconnaissance teams have been chosen to represent the entire Regiment and not simply their perspective battalions.  The reason for this is that we need to have the entire reconnaissance effort to support the entire regiment instead of just a single battalion or company.  Therefore, teams which may come from a certain battalion may be responsible for sectors their company commander may never see.  With this said, they are expected to be observant, attentive to detail, thorough, and descriptive regarding their operational sectors.  So let's say that 1st. Battalion's recon team is assigned to a sector which the 3rd. Battalion is expected conduct its line of march through, they must treat this area as if it were there own.  Rock by rock and leaf by leaf they need to delineate a clear picture of that sector.

So when a battalion commander offers to put forth a reconnaissance team he needs to realize that he will get detailed information regarding his area of operations, just it may not come from his men.  These soldiers may be assigned to another area of operation.

I am also want to reiterate the minimum requirements for being a member of this team.  These requirements are in place to insure that the reconnaissance data is accurate and up to date and presented in a professional manner.

Team Leader:

1. Must be adept at land navigation (be able to read a map and a compass).
2. Must be willing to follow the mission objectives established by the senior reconnaissance officer.
3. Must disembark from vehicle to conduct foot reconnaissance.
4. Must be willing to assemble a written intelligence report for his area of operations following the reconnaissance mission.
5. Must be willing to assist Senior Reconnaissance Officer in assembling the "bigger picture."
6. Must have a working knowledge of tactics and a feeling for strategic avenues of approach for his company.

Driver/Owner:

1. Vehicle must be in good working order.
2. Must satisfy the site rules regarding vehicles (attend vehicle safety course).
3. Must operate vehicle in support of the reconnaissance mission.

Vehicle Compliment:

1. Must follow the orders of his team leader.
2. Must convey visual information to team leader.
3. Must disembark from vehicle to conduct foot reconnaissance.

These are simple requirements that any reconnaissance team would expect from its members.  I am asking for these requirements to be fulfilled in the expectation that people who possess such skills are professional by nature and will give our company commanders one of the best intelligence pictures to date.
