Allied Reenactors

Welcome to the 2012 Battle of the Bulge event.

First, I would like to thank everyone for their continued participation. I know many of you look forward to this event all year long. Hopefully with your support and participation this will be one of the more memorable events.

This year we have had a few new last minute challenges to deal with; a change of billeting venue to the newly renovated barracks in Area 13. This will present some additional challenges on your part, as these barracks need to be protected and preserved in good shape. Unlike previous years, when we were billeted in older WW2 style barracks, we will not be allowed to put anything on the walls, move, relocate or breakdown the bunks, and we must protect the floors from our foot lockers, boots, tables, etc.

New this year will be a Pass and Review of all troops, on Thursday, for the remaining WW2 veterans who are attending this event. I think that it is fitting we do this and I urge your participation. I think it also very important for you to engage these men in conversation, as you can learn from them, first hand, about the war. This is a rare opportunity!

Over the years, I have worked hard to earn your trust and respect.  I am asking you to put your trust in me again and to put your trust in the leaders I have picked for this year’s tactical. This year will be more difficult! This year we will be held to a ‘higher standard’, as the post Commander and his staff will be watching all of us very closely.

Our opposition has been preparing for a re-match all year long. They are determined, now, more than ever, to win. The fight will be bitter. The enemy will be dug in like ticks and they will fight with tenacity. They are well armed and will be hard to see.  We will be both on the defensive and on the offensive.

We need to up our game this year and to perform more professionally than in years past. I am not alone in that opinion. More importantly, we must try harder and we must work together.

You can do better.  I can do better. Together we will overcome the odds and win again!

Barracks – as you know we have going to be housed in Area 13 barracks.  They have been renovated to include separate doors to each floor which will make it easier to keep them cooler for all.  Remember you must not wear hobnails or any items on your boots that will scratch the floors. You cannot move any bunks, lockers; hang anything on the walls or doors.

Thursday Afternoon at 1500 hours, we will conduct a pass in review for our Veterans.  The Allies will form in the parking lots located to the south of our barracks at 1430 hours.  This is for our veterans and are asking for maximum participation by all.

Thursday evening from 1800 to 1900 hours, I am holding a Unit Commanders social.  This is a great opportunity to meet your fellow Unit commanders!!  At 1900 hours, we will conduct a 30 minute briefing on what to expect for Friday’s tactical.   See you there!!
